I See You!

Picture Prompt Challenge!
inspired by the imagery of Rosa Frei

Photograph and copywrite by Rosa Frei

I see you,
And I see right through you.

Though you think
I am blind, I see!

See your subtle diversions,
Covered in nods and dispersions,
And laced with a honeyed Corexit.

I see you,
And I see right through you.

Wearing a fine mourning cloak,
That's been skillfully woven,
From sackcloth, ashes and mace.

I see you,
And I see right through you.

To your banksters, and gangsters,
And politicos, who are fracking
The earth 'til it breaks.

I see you.
And I see right through you.

Gazing into your heart filled
With wars and the corporates,
And a nation that's lost its grace.

I see you,
And I see right through you!

Though you think
I am blind, I see.

I see you!

My first submission to One Stop Poetry's
One Shoot Sunday Photo Prompt, with the portraiture of Rosa Frei.

  1. "I see you" made it to One Shoot. So nice of you to join us today, Roger! The refrain works very well, and you spun your words into a poignant social commentary.

  5. Powerful use of repetition. A bit un-nerving.

  7. "...Wearing a fine mourning cloak,

Well said, and indeed, the older I get the more transparent the world begins to appear, the more lies seem obvious, and motives revoltingly apparent. This fits in well with last night's sombre news.

  8. Thank you so much for your comment hw! I sincerely appreciate your input. And, yes, it does seem for some of us that our perceptions of the world and people increase over time, as well as our intuition. Yet, again, "There are none so blind, as those who will not see!"
