Rend the Wounded Sky: Version 2

[Baut Images: Rend the Wounded Sky II]

Sharply castigating the sky,
The sharpened thistle's spears
Strike upward at the thinkening clouds.

Dark swords against the gray,
They slash and tear
And rend the wounded sky.

Lightning crackles downward,
Striking the thistle's swords
As blood rain falls on unhallowed ground.

These are the days,
That have been prophesized
When the land is torn asunder.

The battle in nature has begun,
A last desperate hope
To restore balance on Planet Earth.
Roger Allen Baut

Please note: This is in 'triplet' form of image, poem and music video.

  1. Roger,

It's funny how a few words, pretty much synonymous with one another, when swapped out for the other, changes tone within a piece. I like some of the change-outs you did here. At points it seems a bit more streamlined here- but the linkage to version one can still be seen. Very interesting revision. Also- Love how you took a zoomed in image for the second piece and changed the songs up too- very nice

  3. Well, thanks again Fred! Glad you got a chance to see it, and leave your thoughts which are appreciated...methinks version 2 came about as a result of Schiller's video Destiny, with the earth, sky, lightening and 'spikey' foliage.

First time I've done a version too, so it was a bit of fun...

    Thanks again Fred!

  5. Roger - well spoken and well demonstrated as a triplet. The true artist knows how well threes work together. I'm actually working on a project of threes...
    Cheers

  8. Hi there Brian...glad you resonated to the imagery...and yes, it would be great to get back to the balance, but methinks we've gone beyond the tipping point!

    Thanks again,
    Roger ☺

  9. A balancing act is being done just to balance what remains, so to get back to balance one had, probably will never happen. Another great verse!

  14. ...and yes, Jannie, the end could be closer than might be imagined...what we do know is that too many species of plants and animals have died off, and our air is loaded with toxins; latest from the chemical fire in TX...glad you resonated to my work...appreciated! Roger ☺

  18. Hello lori! Glad you like my post...and video! Yes, the skies are indeed enchanted, and definately wounded and bleeding with all the toxic smoke/chamicals that humankind has allowed to pollute them...perhaps one day they will be clean and pure once more...

    Thanks again,
    Roger ☺

  20. Stunning photo--always amazed by what you do with your skills there, and the poem is very tight, moody and strong in message. The video just adds another layer, obviously you put a lot of work in on this, and it shows. Enjoyed it all much.

  23. Me thinks that sharpened thistle swords
Are just seasonal hang nails on Nature's hand
Whose wind and rain and lightening
Shall pound, saturate and soften their stalks
Into prostrate capitulations to spongy, dark earth
Where their last glance will be of ebbing light,
Moonrise and starry night's long and chilly aspiration
    Toward the promises of Spring

  24. Roger...amazing! There is a real goosebump moment in the piece, when your tone changes, a head my warning from nature tune that reads like awesome fiction. The goosebumps appear when you realize its not! Always love your presentations and the multimedia aspects of your posts, as they allow for total immersion.
