Pale Shadows: Wednesday Wake-Up Call 03.10.12

Image: Chief Sitting Bull

Fog appears on the road.
A silence encompasses the land.
No past, no future, only present,
Only now, is at hand.

On the path are many travelers.
All traveling through time and space.
Floating along their pathless paths,
As pale shadows fill this place.

Walking, but not walking.
Clothed, but not clothed.
Smiling, but not smiling.
Dreams within a dream.

Talking, but not talking.
Weeping, but not weeping.
Dancing, but not dancing.
Dreams within a Dream.

On the path are many travelers.
Coming to restore this sacred place.
Wielding staffs of silvern light,
To live again in grace.

Fog rises from the road.
A silence encompasses the land.
No past, no future, only present,
Only now, is at hand.

  1. smiles...this is wonderful....there is a great sense of a shared history in this...and mystical as well...we travel the road together for sure...and the future is not always visible but i think if we realize we are together it makes all the difference...i like that refrain...

  2. Love this one!
My favorite lines-- "No past, no future, only present. . .Only now, is at hand." - the slowing down of real time held in suspension --
    Certainly a must read! Thanks.

  3. Roger...I am so honored to be dancing this path with you. Out of the history we come to now...will we honor the lessons we have learned from, or will we continue to turn away, existing in the illusion that we're all okay. Between you and me "NOW" has never excited me more. Wonderful to wake up with you this morning :)

    1. It is a remarkable and exciting "NOW" Natasha, and it shows how active the 'universe' is in each of our lives. Soon many will realize this, as well as focusing on the 'welfare' of our brothers and sisters, the planet, and the universal consciousness!

      Excelsior!

  4. We need to listen to the spirits that whisper change is near. "No past, no future, only present" Love this line. We can move through our present with the wisdom gained from those who went before us and walk beside us now. Thanks for the dance!

  8. This does have an ethereal feel to it... I love the opening and closing stanzas. And Robbie Robertson is one of my favorite singers/songwriters. Perfect pairings!

  10. Whew. The rhythmn, the march/dance, the words - deliberate and sure and so sad. Makes me think of Buffy Ste Marie's "the spirit is alive, magic is afoot" but now it is the ghosts who walk as little else remains. For some, there is no dividing line between relatives/loves, even after death. cf Robbie Robertson's song above which is a prayer and also antique Quaker William Penn's poem on death "Death is but crossing the world, as friends do the seas; they live in one another still." But, of course, genocide is another layer, best not deleted from memory, ever.
