Sunset: including Invocation to Kāli काली

[Baut Images: Sylvan Lake Sunset]

Sunset.
Sun is setting.
Sun is setting fire.
Sun is setting fire to the Earth.

I am the fire
that burns through
the tree limbs
of late October.

Come Kāli oh goddess of time and change

I am the celestial fire
and I am here
having traveled the waves of time
from space to space.

Come Kāli and dance the Dance of Ages

I am the fire
and Sword of Kāli
that burns and purifies
everything into the Satya Yuga.

Come Kāli and right the wrongs of humankind

I am the celestial fire
that strikes down the hatred
and fear and violence
purifying them with raw white heat.

Come Kāli and shape the Earth anew

I am the fire
that burns through
the tree limbs
of early April.

Sunset.
Sun is setting.
Sun is setting fire.
Sun is setting fire to the Earth.

2012 Roger Allen Baut

Please note: This is once again a poetic 'triplet' of image, poem and video. Please view all three as one compositon.

"Let it burn while I cry...
Let it burn...
Let it burn..."

Stop the fear...
Stop the abuse...
Stop the violence...
Stop the insanity...

  2. Roger, very, very cool. Again, love how the three work together here. I love invocations and this is very cool. But, yeah i said that already lol. You know I've heard of Adele before, but believe it or not this was the first time I heard a song by her. Although not what I normally listen to, this was really good. I think I'll have to go and listen to some more of her work to see if it's work picking up. Anyhow, great piece. Really enjoyed. Thanks

    1. Hi Fred! Nice to have you stop by again! This composition started working on me yesterday, until it came together into what you saw today. The invocation just emerged as a side piece on it's own. So glad you resonate to it!

Yes, I've only recently discovered Adele's sound. This piece really fit into the whole 'poetic triplet,' of "Sunset' really well.

Thanks again for your input Fred! Sincerely appreciate it!

  5. Roger- this is so full of spirituality. The sun, as you describe it here, godlike, eternal- all encompassing is almost mantra- like. How many of us see our life giver, our sun, as such a valuable entity. Loved the form as well- like it should be written in Sanskrit on some ancient scroll

    1. Hi Stu! Thanks for stopping by, and what an impressive comment you left for me to read.

Yes, indeed, the sun is the life-giver! Right now it's headed for it's Solar Max. And, with our atmosphere compromised, who knows what the increasing 'coronal mass ejections' will do?

The ancients have written, that there is, indeed, a 'consiousness' in all things. Not necessarily the same as humankind's of course, but a consciousness of it's own.

What 'interesting' times we live in Stu! We are watching the 'shift' in the Ages, and so few realize it.

So glad you are one of those who can perceive beyond the visible.

      Thanks again,
      Roger ☺

  10. Sure quite sunny here today, wonderfully done. I like the kali use too, always fond of myth and so called gods, who were really aliens, being used.

    1. Hi Pat! Nice to have you stop by and let me know you felt this was "wonderfully done."

Yes, myth, legend, the ancients were fascinating, and most probably aliens. If we but only knew the 'truth' of things, rather than the many fabrications of mankind.

      Thanks again Pat,

    1. Yes, it does Brian, feel like a chant or psalm. Interesting. Especially in the way that it felt like it composed itself!

Indeed, "may the light and fire find us ready," I'm sure aome of us will be, but, yikes, so many sleepers...

But, the sleepers must awaken sooner or later...

      Thanks again Brian,

  14. I love Adele.
Setting fire makes me think of City on Fire in Sweeney Todd!

    London
    Always burning
    Always burning in my heart
    There's a fire in London
    The fire of history
    The fire of language
    The fire of poetry
    The fire of art
    I found it Trafalgar
I found it in the fog
    I found it in Southwark
I found it in my soul.

Lovely trilogy my friend. Well done.

    1. Yes, I really like Adele's music too. She's one of the 'special' ones methinks! And "Set Fire to the Rain" just worked in so well with the whole 'triplet.'

Thanks for sharing the City on Fire from Sweeny Todd, too! That was great! And really so happy you let me know about 'loving' the 'trilogy.'

      Thanks again,

  16. This is truly an inspiring piece, Roger. It feels almost like a call to action which is surely what we need during these times...to repair the damage that has been done to our planet or at least halt it at any rate. I particularly love the repetition in the first and last stanzas.
